Another word used for the proposition side in a debate. You’ll find this term particularly current in university-run British Parliamentary debating competitions, where the speakers are normally named as follows:
Opening Government team (OG)
- First Speaker (also called the Prime Minister)
- Second Speaker (also called the Deputy Prime Minister)

- First Speaker (also called the Leader of the Opposition)
- Second Speaker (also called the Deputy Leader of the Opposition)

Closing Government team (CG)
- Third Speaker (also called a Member of the Government)
- Fourth Speaker (also called Government Whip)
|
Closing Opposition team (CO)
- Third Speaker (also called a Member of the Opposition)
- Fourth Speaker (also called Opposition Whip)
