A game to introduce debating skills: “If I ruled the world”

Player one begins by saying, “If I ruled the world, I would… because…” (They need to describe what they would do and why).

The next person must say, “I couldn’t disagree more because…” They must explain why they would disagree (even if they don’t).

This is a really good game to start the development of debating skills – sometimes we might have to argue against something we believe in, so it’s important for us to try and understand the opposing point of view. Furthermore, this is a great game to help children to understand the other side of an argument, giving them critical thinking skills.
