Earlier in the year we shared some great ideas for family board games that will #KeepKidsTalking. Here, we share some more games that are ideal for promoting conversation, discussion and oracy skills in a fun and entertaining way.

What’s in the Box

Skills: vocabulary development, fast thinking, creative thinking, imagination

This game involves a small box in which physical objects are placed; hunt around the house, secretly hide something in the box then get everyone to try and guess what you’ve hidden. Ask questions (the limit is 21), or rattle and listen to the sound, but remember there are only 21 chances to discover what’s actually in there. There’s also there’s a deck of double-sided picture cards that you can use in place of actual objects. This game encourages players to ask astute, apposite questions in order to deduce what is in the box.

The Hygge Game
