Global Economics Debating Day at New College of the Humanities

On 19 June, sixth form students from around the country attended our first sixth form Academic Debate Day run with the PiXL Club (www.pixl.org.uk), at the New College of the Humanities (www.nchlondon.ac.uk).

Students studying A Level Geography and Economics came together for a day which included:

  • a lecture on development aid from the Economics faculty at NCH
  • an admissions workshop from the staff and student ambassadors at NCH
  • two debates on development with expert debate judges
  • a seminar-based activity on global development aid

The day allowed students to get a taste of university teaching and extend their ability to engage with the big issues in their A level studies.

This was a pilot day and we are looking forward to running further Academic Debating Days in 2019-2020 around a variety of subjects. If you would like to hear more, please register your interest by emailing debating@pixl.org.uk

Many thanks to New College of the Humanities for partnering with us to make this day possible.
