The Big Children’s Shakespeare Debate and Performance

On January 29th we were excited to be part of The Big Children’s Shakespeare Debate and Performance, organised by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and held at Whitley Bay playhouse.

The event was MC’ed by Michael Rosen and was a very special day. Pupils from Seaton Sluice Middle School and Whytrig Community Middle School took part in two show debates and performed an adapted version of Romeo and Juliet. The debaters were articulate, persuasive and full of passion and were undaunted by being on stage in front of an audience of several hundred!

The debates were filmed and will soon be available on the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust website, as part of series of ‘Debating Shakespeare’ resources we have developed for them.

Please get in touch with Debbie if you are interested in bringing our Debating Shakespeare workshops to your school.
