On Wednesday July 10th, the 8 finalist schools in the PiXL Up For Debate competition gathered in London to compete to become winners of this year’s competition.
The national final was kindly hosted by Queen Mary University London and during the preliminary rounds the finalists debated a variety of topics, ranging from whether the UK should get rid of it’s nuclear weapons, to whether politicians have a right to privacy.
After three rounds of fantastic debates, Roding Valley High School and Jewish Community Secondary School were our grand finalists. The two teams debated whether or not artificial intelligence will improve people’s lives.
It was a fantastic, and extremely close, debate but in the end Roding Valley High School were crowned this year’s winners of Up For Debate!
A huge well done to Roding Valley, and all the 8 finalist schools, and a huge thank you to Queen Mary University London for hosting the competition.
Registrations for Up For Debate 2019/20 will open soon. Find out more.
