Let’s Talk About…News Reporting

Have a look at a news site or a newspaper with your child and choose an interesting story to report on. Your child will need to take on the role of TV News Reporter on the spot, so part of this activity can include making a microphone prop. Their news report should be no longer than a minute and should detail:

What: what is the story?

Where: Where did this take place?

When: When did it happen?

How: How is or will this impact people?

Why: Why is this important news?

Who: Who is this story about?

When these answers have been confirmed, ask your child to deliver their news report as if they were talking to a camera.
