Cicero Cup Finals

The first Cicero Cup finals day was a huge success! Linklaters were wonderful hosts for the day and the children did very well speaking in the large auditorium. Our judges Baroness Blower, Laurence Lee, Jack Gamble and our Linklaters volunteers inspired the pupils by talking about how they used debating skills in politics, journalism, advocacy and law.
The teams debated prepared motions and were then challenged with impromptu debates on school strikes for climate and whether they would want to be famous.
Bromfield House and Salusbury Primary made it through to the finals and debated “social media does more harm than good”. In a close decision, Salusbury was declared the first Cicero Cup Champions.
All of the teams did their schools proud as they debated in a confident, respectful, reasoned and persuasive manner.
We are already looking forward to the 2024 Cicero Cup!
